Purina ONE hosts NYC pop-up cat café

For three days in April, people lined up around the block, many waiting as long as three hours, to get in at a new café in New York. What was so special about this particular coffee shop that had people so eager to get a seat? Cats.

With the help of the North Shore Animal League, feline fanciers interacted with adoptable cats while sipping “catachinos” and nibbling on baked goods. Many attendees at the coffee klatsch even went home with new pets.

The café, hosted by Purina ONE as a way to bring attention to and promote cat health, was the first of its kind in North America — though cat cafés have been popular throughout Europe and Asia for years. In addition to bringing helpful info to cat owners and cat lovers about feline health and nutrition, it also successfully raised awareness about available adoptable cats in the area.

Although this pop-up café was only open for three days, we’re certain a more permanent version would be a hit and a fantastic way to promote adoption to boot!
